The London Underground contains a fertile language laboratory also known as The Tube. Here, nobody knows your place of origin, position in the class structure, knowledge of public transit, nor your sense of humor -- unless you open your mouth. Sometimes all it takes is the right question to break the silence (see at 2:30). This scene is from "A Run for Your Money" (1949) produced at London's Ealing Studios. The language they all are speaking is English. Topics: Ealing Comedy, London underground, "A Run for Your Money" (1949):

Sir Marc Isambard Brunel,(25 April 1769 – 12 December 1849) was a French-born engineer who settled in England. He preferred the name Isambard, but is generally known to history as Marc to avoid confusion with his more famous son Isambard Kingdom Brunel. His most famous achievement was the construction of the Thames Tunnel. The Thames Tunnel is an underwater tunnel, built beneath the River Thames in London, connecting Rotherhithe and Wapping.
